Who Are
“Those Americans?”
Hi! We're "Those Americans."
Yes, those Americans—the ones you've probably seen and heard (sometimes even from across the room). We're your typical American family who decided to take a leap beyond our comfort zone and explore our vast, fascinating world.
When we planned our first international trip together, leaving North America behind for the very first time, we were brimming with excitement, anticipation—and admittedly—a touch of nervousness. As we prepared, I encountered numerous tips and warnings online about how we Americans might be perceived abroad: loud, overly friendly, perhaps a bit clueless, and certainly not the most fashion-forward.
Determined to blend in, we did our best. We packed our quieter voices, left our brightest athlesuire at home, and practiced our polite "bonjour." But despite our best efforts, we quickly learned something important—no matter how hard we tried, we inevitably stood out.
Family Travel Around the World
We felt the curious stares on crowded trains in Paris and the subtle side-eyes when we showed up in baseball hats at an upscale restaurant in London. It wasn't long before we realized something: we are who we are. After all, embracing who we genuinely are—enthusiastic, a little loud, genuinely curious, and unabashedly friendly—makes travel richer and more authentic.
So here we are, "Those Americans," sharing our journeys, misadventures, cultural faux pas, and priceless discoveries. We're learning as we go, doing our best to respect the cultures we encounter, and most importantly, enjoying every single moment of the adventure together.
We invite you to join us—laugh with us, learn with us, and maybe even cringe with us—as we explore this amazing world as "Those Americans"!
